African-Americans are still grieving the verdict in the George Zimmerman trial, and the sense that racial profiling of young black men has yet again been given the stamp of approval by most of white people in America. And believe it or not, this situation takes place just days after the american Supreme Court pared back the Voting Rights Act, making it easier for states with a long history of electoral racism to once again set up obstacles to the franchise if they so choose.

Remember, this is a country that has elected a black man as its President. Twice. His name is Barack Obama.

But, keep in mind that, this is also a country where civil rights leaders are castigated for focusing on racism against African-Americans.  And more importantly, this is a country where George Zimmerman was acquitted of second degree murder and manslaughter charges in the killing of 17-year old Trayvon Martin.
